If you want to make a website, first you need a domain and web hosting. If you don’t know what a domain and hosting are:
There is a long discussion about it, but simply put, a domain is the name or address of your website, and hosting is the live computer memory where your data files and all of the content are stored.
You need these two things to make a website. You have to buy them from a registered provider who offers domain and hosting services. You can get free domain and hosting options, but it’s mandatory for creating a site.
After purchasing the domain and hosting, you’ll receive an email from the providers containing the domain and hosting access details. If you buy the domain and hosting from the same provider, they will be connected by default. However, if you purchase the domain and hosting from different companies, you will need to connect them manually.
I will now explain how you can connect the domain and hosting when bought from different providers. First, log in to your domain provider’s dashboard, then locate your domain and click on “Manage” (or some may have a “Domain Settings” option).
You can connect in multiple ways, but I’ll share two methods.
- Connecting via Hosting Name Servers:
When you purchase hosting, you will receive an email from them, which will include their hosting name servers. Typically, you will get two name servers, although some companies may provide three. To connect your domain and hosting using the name server, go to the “Manage” section and locate the name server option, where you’ll find the “Add Name Server” field. Once you enter the name servers, save the changes. It may take some time for the connection to take effect.
- Connecting via IP Address:
When you purchase a hosting server, you will receive hosting panel access, typically cPanel access for shared hosting. Log in to your cPanel dashboard, and if you don’t already have the IP address, you can find the shared IP address there. Just copy it.
After obtaining the IP address, go to the domain section and locate the “Advanced DNS” option. Here, you need to set three A records with hosts (*, @, www). Enter the IP address in the value field and save it.
After changing the name server and IP address, wait with the patient. I believe your work will be done. If you still encounter issues, feel free to reach out to me, and I’ll do my best to help.
